This is a large Cameo brooch depicting 2 Hellenistic figures chatting together in a garden. It is a whimsical scene which makes one wonder what they might be talking about?

The brooch is set in 9ct yellow gold and is oval in shape, measuring approximately 5.5cms x 4.3cms. It is secured by a gold pin that is slightly bent (see photos) and a swivel clasp with gold safety chain.

This is an English piece that was hand carved in Birmingham in 1975 and bears these hallmarks. The makers mark for E J Clewley & Co can be clearly seen. E J Clewley & Co were manufacturing jewellers, established in the late 1800s in Vyse Street, Birmingham. I believe they went out of business in the 80s?
