This antique ring features 3 purplish/red rubies and 2 Old Cut Diamonds set in 18ct yellow gold. The ring is fully hallmarked for Birmingham with the date stamp of 1887. Being made towards the end of the reign of Queen Victoria, the style of jewellery was beginning to change from the mourning era to the use of colourful gemstones. This ring design is moving away from the traditional claw setting and ornate gallery to the gypsy style which is perfect to wear every day.
The setting is 18ct yellow gold and it’s a solid ring weighing 4.25 grams. Together the diamonds total approximately .32ct and they are white in colour and graded I1-I2 and colour H-L by the valuer. The centre ruby weight approximately .32ct.
